I’m reaching out because I have a question that was actually answered by the Rabbi at the
Temple I attend here in NY. Unfortunately I’m ADD and forgot the answer.
I’ll be a grandmother soon, which made me rethink about my Jewish responsibility, and how to be more
pro-active regarding passing it on to my grandchild the Jewish culture/traditions/heritage.
I was raised by non-practicing Jewish parents. I want to reaffirm my faith. I was informed that a good
option is a ritual? A process? A ceremony? Called something starting with an “L” I think?
Dear Din Team, may you please let me know what is the name of this Jewish “renewal” process?

One of the main ceremonies that “L”ink a person to the Jewish people is that if the child is a boy that he should get circumcised. This ritual is what puts the Jewish stamp on the child in a way that ensures him a place in the world to come. By the way, medically, it is also healthy for the child. This ritual is also the best thing that you can do to right now to pass on to him his Jewish heritage.
