Standing ground in faith fight

Question:

Dear Rabbi,

I find my dear dad unreasonable and even to come into the den tonight to announce it was to be havdalah in a short time, he was upset. He advanced upon me because he was unsettled in his bible. He does not wish to consider that children are important sometimes when it comes to money.

My father advanced on me and I held out my stiff arm so he could not punch me or beat my head. He forfeited because he broke his dentures.

Am I to a darkness? I feel accepted because it is not hitting him or do I have to forsake a deadly beating? I think I am ok. He stopped and was in shame before the Lord. This is hard. They do not want Jacob to win.

Shalom and the sabbath was otherwise excellent. The nasty feeling of the non-kosher pervades but I know Hashem’s plan is keen to work the kosher forward in my own health.

Thank you.

Answer:

You must be very careful not to hit your father, because itis a severe transgression, and because you don’t want to get kicked out of your parents home
